In the automotive industry, alloy wheels are wheels that are made from an alloy of aluminium or magnesium. Alloys are mixtures of a metal and other elements. They generally provide greater strength over pure metals, which are usually much softer and more ductile. Alloys of aluminium or magnesium are typically lighter for the same strength, provide better heat conduction, and often produce improved cosmetic appearance over steel wheels. Although steel, the most common material used in wheel production, is an alloy of iron and carbon, the term "alloy wheel" is usually reserved for wheels made from nonferrous alloys.
You can bring your wheels to us without the tyres, or we can strip and refit the tyres and re-balance the wheels (if we need to use weights when re-balancing, if possible we will endeavour to fit to the inside of the rim so as not to spoil the appearance of the wheel).
Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat. The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as household appliances, aluminium extrusions, drum hardware and automobile and bicycle parts. The powder coating process was invented around 1945 by Daniel Gustin US Patent 2538562.
We use the latest techniques which involve us removing all the paint and corrosion in an acid bath. This is carried out at our depot. Due to the strength of the acid used we cannot do it on the mobile service. You can have your wheels painted to the original colour or if you fancy a change we can mix any colour you like. If you have a specific colour you would like you can supply us with a paint code and we will match it.
Depending on the outside temperature and the choice of paint and final finish your alloy wheel refurbishment may benefit from UV curing.
The UV and heat curing process can be used on both the paint stage and the final lacquer. The choice of how and when to use UV curing will be dependent on the ambient temperature and humidity when we undertake the wheel refurbishment.
Using our extensive experience and knowledge we can guarantee a finish refurbishment standard each and every time we undertake a refurb.
That is why we have invested in the latest technology and are able to ensure we complete your alloy wheel repair to the very highest standards.
What Does Blasting Mean
Blasting is a process where small angular or spherical particles are propelled at a substrate by compressed air, mechanical high-speed rotating wheels or water pumps. This process is widely used because it is efficient, economical and fast.
Blasting is an excellent method for removing:
Blasting also prepares parts for:
